“Tina Howe’s new play Singing Beach is a delight… Under the direction of Ari Laura Kreith, the cast of seven glide easily from reality to fantasy in the July of a not-too-distant future in Manchester, MA… You will be won over by Piper and the delicious world she creates, the one created for her by Tina Howe, a playwright of epiphanies”
--Life Upon the Sacred Stage
“Shortly after the first scene, we’re taken into the dreamy parallax stream of subconscious in granddaughter Piper’s mind — in a transition that is far more subtle than the windy transition taken by Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. After Piper takes us aboard a transatlantic steamer, she appears to have far more fun than Dorothy, but is traveling in an environment that might be more mortally dangerous.”
--ManhattanBuzz
“This Theatre 167 presentation features seven appealing actors, with effective doubling by Beirnard, Hill, Keller, and Weiss.”
--Off Off-Offline
"The charming Devin E. Haqq joins the fun as Gabriel Justice, a TV star Piper adores." ~Village Voice
“Mr. Milligan, Ms. Beirnard and Mr. Weiss are all standouts in their roles.”
— Times Sq. Chronicles
Tina Howe is still gamely creating new work — and doing so with the sort of approach previously evident in her adaptation of Ionesco’s Bald Soprano and her less well-known play Birth and Afterbirth.
--CurtainUp
“fascinating detail, poetic yet realistic dialogue, and captivating, eloquent characters”
--TheaterLife
“I really recommend it for its experimentation, originality, and art.”--Hi Drama!
